J. Thomas Eck

Computational Biology and Drug Discovery Consultant in New Jersey

Hello and welcome to the curriculum vitae site of J. Thomas Eck. I am a Computational Biology and Drug Discovery Consultant in New Jersey seeking project-based engagements in the New Jersey, New York, Philadelphia, and Delaware region.

If you are involved in computational drug discovery, virtual screening, fragment screening, drug docking studies, molecular dynamics simulations, basic research or statistical analysis in the biomedical fields, I can be of great value to you by offering my unique combination of skills, education, and experience in the computational and life science arenas.

During my twenty (20) years of providing software and business consulting services to Fortune 500 companies in a wide range of industries, I have consistently proven my ability to turn a client's (often vague) requirements into a solid solution that stands the tests of time and use. My clients have engaged me to deliver solutions for their most challenging line-of-business functions on which the daily operation of their business depends. I am particularly adept at building systems that are capable of analyzing enormous amounts of data and extracting the patterns that represent the greatest business value to my clients.

During the last eight years, I have focused my attention on the growing needs of the biomedical research community.  I am currently a PhD candidate at Rutgers University in the Computational Biology and Molecular Biophysics graduate program.  I am focusing on the application of computational techniques to gain insight into atomic interactions in various drug targets (including HIV Reverse Transcriptase and Protease and bacterial RNA Polymerase).

I spent the prior three-year period studying biotechnology at the University of Pennsylvania where I had the opportunity to work with world-class scientists who are defining the post-genomic era and the influence that genomics, proteomics, computational, and systems biology will have on the drug design process in the 21st century. At the University of Pennsylvania I specifically concentrated on applications of computational and mathematical methods to some of the most complex and important aspects of biomedicine faced by researchers today. Several areas of my studies have resulted in novel advances that are being patented and/or published.

I am prepared to deliver this same level of excellence to your organization via staff augmentation, project-based engagements, or other arrangements that you may find more suitable.  My track record of successes is unparalleled in the industry and I am personally responsible for saving companies millions of dollars in software system development.

Thank you for taking the time to consider engaging me in your next project. You can find a great deal about my education, publications, client base, and recent research achievements on the remainder of this site.

If you would like to contact me, please feel free to do so at any time.

Best Regards,
J. Thomas (Tom) Eck
